FINANCIAL LITERACY IS THE KEY!

Invest in Yourself is an organization that was created in 2016 and focuses on introducing the youth to the world of financial literacy. The organization has expanded and is now offering the following services:

  • Financial Literacy Program/Curriculum

  • Teacher Professional Development

  • Community Outreach

Highlights

  • Taught over 1,500 minority households how to invest in the stock market

  • Awarded eight $500 ($4,000) scholarships to black high school seniors.

  • 2017 WeWork Creator Awards "Incubate Award" Winner and received $18,000 grant.

  • Project "Invest In Yourself" received a $45,000 grant from State Farm Youth Advisory Board in September, 2016.

  • Facilitated free financial literacy community workshops (Real Estate, Stock Market, Credit Score, Entrepreneurship, and Life Insurance)

  • Students facilitated three community stock market workshops with over 250 participants (2017 - 2018)

  • Our students won 1st Place out of 466 teams in the 2018 The Stock Market Game (Turned $100,000 of simulated money into $147,000 in nine months)

  • Opened over 150 bank accounts for students ages 8-15.

  • Our students trained Keller Williams Realty Agents how to use social media to improve their business.

  • We took four students and their parents to New York City to visit Wall Street and the financial district.
